A Blogger’s Guide to Tenerife

One of seven Canary Islands, Tenerife is located in the Atlantic Ocean to the south of mainland Spain and to the west of Africa. A popular holiday hotspot with millions of visitors each year, Tenerife offers a variety of activities for families, young travellers and those in seek of a relaxing trip away.

Whether you are in search of a relaxing beach retreat or want to enjoy a more action packed holiday, Tenerife offers lots of options. Mount Teide National Park makes it to the top of the list for many visitors. Within the national park you can find El Teide, the highest peak in Spain and the third tallest volcanic peak in the world.

If natural attractions are your passion then head to the northeast coast of the island where you can find the cliffs of Los Gigantes (The Giants). You can marvel at these natural formations from the ground or the sea but wherever you are, the view is impressive.

Water lovers will be delighted with the selection of aqua parks on offer in Tenerife. Siam Park in Costa Adeje is the best known and is regularly named as one of the best in the world. This Thai themed park has rides and slides for all the family as well as a sizeable wave pool and plenty of areas to rest and relax, making it the perfect destination for a fun day out.

This area of the island is less common with tourists so if you are seeking a quiet beak then the further you head from the southwest side, where tourist resorts are commonplace, the more likely you are to get some peace and quiet and discover a completely different side to this Canary island.

On the east side of the island you will also find Guímar Pyramids Ethnographic Park, located near the town of Guimar.

The town of Guimar is an architectural highlight and the pyramids even more so, despite there being no explanation of how they came to stand.

Whether you want a typically touristy holiday or are in search of something a little different, Tenerife has enough options to satisfy and reading a few travel blogs can motivate and inspire.
